Lebanese Army and Militant Group Fatah Al Islam Continue Battle
Lebanon, always a fragile state, appears on the verge of shattering over violent conflict between the state army and an Islamist militant group called Fatah Al Islam. The fighting between the two groups began on Sunday evening, when the Lebanese army went in search of several members suspected of robbery, in the northern Palestinian refugee camp that the group has made its home base.
Despite declarations of a ceasefire on Tuesday, fighting has resumed.
