Sunna

Definition: Sunna, from which the word Sunni comes, means "habitual practice" or "sanctioned by tradition" in Arabic. In the context of Islam, it refers to the "traditions" of the Prophet Muhammad, which his sayings and his actions. These "sunna" were collected by followers after Muhammad's death and, in combination with the law established by the Qur'an, established as legally binding precedents for Muslims to follow.
